Tracking Workshops

Snow Tracking Field Essentials – Mar. 1, 2025, Edmonton, AB

Edmonton | March 1, 2025 | Must be aged 18+

Snow Tracking Field Essentials is a one-day, field-based workshop focused on identifying tracks in snow.

  • Suitable as a crash course for beginners.
  • Often a “breakthrough” experience for advanced trackers.
  • Perfect for ecology students, wildlife researchers, and environmental consultants with any level of tracking knowledge or experience.
  • Ideal training for those working towards a certification in Track & Sign.

Learn to recognize key characteristics in track patterns, and apply your knowledge of the character and physical attributes of each species as a crucial first step to identifying the track-maker. Participants will reduce their dependance on footprint features to confidently match track makers to species.

Note:

  • Participants are responsible for their own transportation, food, and drink.
  • Some training or keen interest in ecology and wildlife is recommended.
  • The workshop will consist of a long day outside during winter conditions.
  • A reasonable level of physical fitness is needed to endure a full day of hiking.
  • Snowshoes may be required depending on the conditions.
