Introduction to Wildlife Tracks – Online Study Session, May 8, 2025

Thursday, May 8 | 6pm MST | 1-hour | Online via Zoom | All Ages

Join us for a 1-hour online study session via Zoom, hosted and led by Fiera Biological.

This session will focus on species common to Alberta, Canada, covering the basics of wildlife tracking, including:

  • How to confidently distinguish the tracks of felines (such as cougars) from those of canids (such as wolves).
  • The diverse track shapes of hoofed animals, including moose, elk, and deer.
  • How to know the difference between black bear and grizzly bear tracks.
  • Learn how to know the tracks of a perching bird or a ground-dwelling bird based on tracks

Participants will leave this workshop equipped with some key tools and knowledge with which to explore the spring tracking season.

Take this course, then go find some mud, and begin your journey as a tracker.

Open to anyone interested — you need no prior experience to participate.
